If only we were truly able to love our neighbors as ourselves...

the classroom rant recorded by one of his students.. "your freaking stupid uncle louie or whatever , they're dumb----, they're not high-level bankers, they're not academic people.
they're not intellectual people, they're the freaking lowest of our low".

so i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.
Cofty,
While your thinking does seem to be "stuck" in certain hypotheses within the Scientific Method relative to the study of questions regarding the Theory of Evolution, there is yet hope! As you delve more deeply into those questions with your own thoughts, separate from those who feel compelled to strongly advocate for Natural Selection, it will come to you.
If you dare that is. You're not afraid to think independently are you? Afraid that your peers might not approve should they observe freedom? Do you feel pressured to "conform?"
In any event, in due time you shall "see the light." Truth always prevails.
That you are equating Natural Selection to God is a small beginning.
jehovah himself gives the saying "the women telling the good news are a large army" psalms 68 : 11 coupled with the fact that a good portion of women partake of the emblems and wine at the annual memorial celebration.. identifying themselves as part of the 144000 that are taken from the earth to rule with christ jesus in the heavens.. isn`t it about time they were recognized for their contributions and given the fact that gods word the bible clearly states that 144,000 of anointed are to be taken from the earth which many women are a large part of.?.
revelation ch.14 :4 could be argued that they are not lesbians { "these are the ones who do not defile themselves with women ,in fact they are virgins, etc,etc.}.
i wonder just how many men who claim to be of the anointed have not defiled themselves with women and are virgins.?.
Not members of the GB since there is great opposition to that ever happening. But, what about advisors to the GB in Spiritual Matters similar to those Prophetesses of old who were advisors and helpers to the Priests in the Temple.
Nah, that wouldn't fly either. They'd soon realize that Women are not only smarter but tend to be more nurturing and empathetic than the Old Boys Club is. Why, they might even reveal some "new light" which requires that "shunning" be abolished as Satanic ritual or such.
It is a pleasant thought though...
do you think elders and gb members monitor this site to catch people?.
If the GB ever felt the need for some honest "feedback" regarding their performance they couldn't choose a better forum than this one. I suspect they do take a peek from time to time to get some idea of how they're perceived by those who know best. And who aren't afraid to "tell it like it is."

Quote from Finkelstein:
...Creation from a supernatural being of unknown origin or natural laws of nuclear evolution ?
And there we have the crux of the matter. Natural Laws or Nature is responsible for Evolution.
But, what is the intelligence in Nature? Who is the designer in Nature?
When Evolutionists are able to honestly answer those questions they inevitably come to the conclusion that Nature must equal God. So, is belief in Evolution a bad thing? Not at all! It is just an intermediate step in coming to appreciate Creation. We'll all get there in the bye and bye...

Question from Finkelstein:
So if a huge asteroid was to hit earth like it did 40 million years ago killing everything on this planet including all of mankind, would you still say its all so beautiful and orderly ?
Without knowing the details of the event, including the aftermath, it is very difficult to form a meaningful opinion. We suspect such things may have happened in our distant past and they likely did. One day we will know why they occurred and for what purpose.

Quote from Finkelstein:
So what your saying then Old Navy is that the ancients in the middle east got all right as opposed to all the accumulation of accepted knowledge through physical evidence obtained through the scientific study of astrophysics, geological evolution and biological evolution over the past 3000 years have got it all wrong.
As the Scientific Process continues any error that may have crept into the evaluation will be set straight. Not that it is all wrong; no, it is not all wrong; but the Scientific Process is still far from completeness Those who pursue the method diligently and honestly will discover additional Truth which will stimulate re-evaluation and refinement. The Scientific Method marches on.

Quote from How the Bible was Created:
Eividence? Where. All matter, energy, forces are reduced to the biggest jumble of mess called the standard model. It is so bad that the only way it can be explained is using string theroy. So I ask you does God sit around plucking strings and creating a mess? Because that is what our universe (and likely all the multiverse) is a mess.
BTW this god created the 2nd law of thermodynamics so you CANT live forever lol
That seems to be an unusual point of view in the field of Astronomy. Those who study the universe for as far as the aided eye is able to see tell us how marvelously beautiful it is; how structured and orderly it is; how full of wondrous mysteries it is.
The Laws of Thermo-Dynamics will not be a hindrance. All things are possible.

Quote from Orphan Crow:
My mind has no wall and I don't expect to ever find it obstructed with that concept again
That is good; the mind shouldn't have a wall and it should be without one until we face certain very difficult propositions. The "Evolution Wall" isn't really an obstruction as such. It is more like the point at which a certain knowledge becomes inadequate and a new form of knowledge is needed to go beyond that point. Whether one does deign to venture beyond it is, of course, a personal decision. Not everyone who gets there is prepared to go beyond.

Quote from Cofty:
Dozens of posts and not even one single attempt to present any evidence. When I was a creationist I knew nothing about science but at least I knew how to ask difficult questions.
The evidence is all around us. In every direction. If you're not able to "see" it now, for whatever reason, that "blindness" is only temporary. Again, that many believe in Evolution does not bother me. There is nothing really wrong with such temporary beliefs as they are in keeping with the Scientific Method which is still operative on many fronts. We haven't reached the end of this trail yet.
Quote from Never a Jw:
You and people like you are the very reason I turned from being indifferent to Christianity to being hateful of it. The combination of ignorance and arrogance are usually not seen together in the fields of science, but in fundamentalist Christianity is the rule with no exceptions.
Not arrogance but confidence that ALL will be helped (or made) to "see" what they are presently "blinded" to by internal conflict. It is true that many have been turned away from and developed hatred for what they see as Christianity; perhaps rightfully so. The witnesses certainly do not have a monopoly on corruption and cult indoctrination. There is an explanation for this within The Word.
You'll have to expand further upon what you mean by "the combination of ignorance and arrogance."
The story of humankind upon Planet Earth is full of trouble but hasn't yet reached the conclusion of this phase of our existence. What is coming will be very, very good. You will be a happy camper, as we all will, when that time comes.
